ISM Code - Domestic Trade in Irish waters
Owners/Operators of vessels trading domestically in Irish waters are required, regardless of flag, to implement a Safety Management System (SMS) based on parts A and B of the ISM Code (the Code) and to have an Approved Safety Management Manual (SMM) for their vessels and shore based operations.
An assessment of the shore based offices will be undertaken by a Marine Survey Office (MSO) Inspector who will if satisfied issue the operator with a Document of Compliance (DOC) specific to the operation of a particular type of vessel.
Following receipt of the DOC the operator's vessels will be inspected by the MSO to verify that the SMS is effectively implemented. If this is the case the vessel will be issued with a Safety Management Certificate (SMC).

With many years experience in the role of External (3rd Party) ISM Code Auditors acting on behalf of many Flag States, including Ireland, we are well positioned to,
-
Support the development of a SMS and the production of a SMM.
-
Undertake independent objective 2nd party auditing in compliance with the requirements of the Code
-
Assist Owner/Operators to monitor and undertake critical reviews of their SMS, and to identify opportunities for systemic improvements utilising both leading and reactive indicators.
-
Assist Owner/Operators in their identification and prioritisation of realistic improvement goals
-
Undertake coaching and training activities in support of the implementation and ever-greening of the SMS
-
Provide coaching with the critical and sometimes difficult task of incident investigation.
